PENSACOLA, FL – ITGulfCoast, an Information Technology Association for the Gulf Coast, will hold their regular monthly meeting on Wednesday, September 24, 2008 at PJC Downtown. Vince Mayfield, President of Bit Wizards Custom Software Solutions, will present several case studies that illustrate solutions for moving business data between dissimilar computer systems.
Presentation Abstract
Trying to move critical enterprise data between dissimilar systems is often a difficult and daunting task for IT Professionals and Software Developers. Most small and mid-tier businesses cannot afford the cost of dedicated secure connections to transfer data between disparate locations. In many cases businesses must resort to a manual process that results in increased manpower costs and increases the potential for human error. Most companies, apprehensive or ignorant of technology solutions, have resorted to manual, error prone, double data entry to transfer data between dissimilar systems.
This presentation will discuss different methods to accomplish the transfer of Enterprise Business Data. In one scenario we will discuss how we were able to securely transfer E-Commerce Transactions that occurred on the Internet to Great Plains located behind a corporate firewall. In another scenario we will demonstrate how we were able to provide a two way flow of Job Openings and Applicants between a Job Application System and the Human Resources Module of Great Plains. These systems utilize technology to solve a business problem. By applying technology effectively businesses can reduce costs and efficiency in terms of manpower and potential errors in transferring business critical data securely between networks.
