      PENSACOLA, FL – ITGulfCoast, an Information Technology Association for the Gulf Coast, will hold their regular monthly meeting on Wednesday, June 23, 2010, at PJC Downtown. Guest speakers will be Dr. Howard Liebman and Mr. Doug Peterson who will discuss NextPort Extended Campus, a next-generation training and knowledge access portal. 

      Abstract of Presentation
      Dr. Howard Liebman and Mr. Doug Peterson will be presenting on NextPort Extended Campus, the next-generation training and knowledge access portal. The presenters will discuss how the the NexPort Extended Campus enables:
      • Transformation of information into useful knowledge and training products
      • Secure access to training and knowledge products by an organization’s memberships
      • Sharing organizational training and knowledge products within a secure environment
      • Management of knowledge and training products by an organization’s leadership
      • Interoperability with an organization’s current information technology infrastructure
      • Easy to use, browser-based, web meetings to be scheduled (Web Studio)
      • Secure portals for organizations, digital library, collaboration tools, certification management software

      About Presenters
      Howard Liebman, Ph.D. - A visionary in the field of innovative online education, Dr. Howard A. Liebman is a nationally recognized educator and entrepreneur with experience in founding and leading successful public and private education-related enterprises. In May 2004, he co-founded the University of Miami Online High School as CEO and facilitated the rapid growth of the company. Under his leadership, the University of Miami Online High School, along with Virtual Sage (curriculum publishing company) were acquired by the Washington Post Companies in April 2007.

      In addition, during the past year, Dr. Liebman served as a consultant and facilitated the launch of the University of Miami Online Global Academy, a grade 8-12, college-preparatory online high school.

      Prior to co-founding the University of Miami Online High School, Dr. Liebman had 11 years in public and private education as a principal, assistant principal and teacher. Dr. Liebman has a Ph.D in Education from Barry University, a master’s degree in Social Work from Florida International University, and a bachelor’s degree in Psychology from the University of Florida.
      Doug Peterson - A leader in the design, development, and delivery of Web-based Interactive Multimedia, Mr. Douglas Peterson is the Director of Smart Horizons, a Division of Advanced Systems Technology, Inc. Since establishing the Division in Pensacola, FL in 1997, he has focused on Instructional Systems Design (ISD) methodology as it relates to job task analysis, course design, written/performance test development, development of criterion-referenced materials, and validation of instructional materials.

      For the past 12 years, Mr. Peterson has designed, developed, and delivered Web based courseware to a plethora of clients including; the U.S. Army Reserve Readiness Command, the National Guard Bureau, the National Association of Child Care Resource and Referral Agencies, the Association of Christian Schools International, the Federal Law Enforcement Training Center, the National Institute of Justice, the National Institute of Health, the Department of Homeland Security, and various federal, tribal, state, and local law enforcement organizations. These efforts have yielded over 3000 hours of new courseware earning Smart Horizons the reputation as a leader and innovator in the virtual education world.

      Mr. Peterson is also responsible for the Smart Horizons content delivery system. NexPort Extended Campus is a training and knowledge access portal, designed to meet client’s training, training management, and knowledge access requirements. This enterprise solution provides clients with their own members-only access portal for providing sensitive and proprietary training content. Each portal provides an environment that allows clients to manage their specialized services independently of other organizations.

      Meeting Details

      This meeting will be held at the Gulf Coast Center for Innovation and Entrepreneurship (formerly PJC Downtown ) conference room on the 4th floor) The meeting starts at 11:30 am and ends at 1:00 pm.   The cost for lunch is $12 per person.  The fee to attend without lunch is $5 per person.
