Business Continuity Planning - Seminar Series

UWF and ITGULFCOAST Offer Seminars on Disaster Recovery & Planning

Are You Prepared for the Next Disaster?

How will you ensure the long-term viability of your business or organization after the next hurricane or other disaster?  And how about your paying customers or members and your critical suppliers?

The Information Technology Association of the Gulf Coast (www.ITGulfCoast.org) and the University of West Florida are offering a seminar series designed to provide our community with the know-how and resources needed to plan for and successfully recover from disasters, both natural and man-made.  Special attention will be paid to lessons learned from Hurricane Ivan and planning for a variety of threats such as pandemics, fire, or large-scale IT failure.

These will be hands-on, technically detailed presentations intended to provide attendees with viable, concrete strategies for business continuity. Our goal is to give the Emerald Coast community what it needs to stay alive economically after a disaster. These seminars will provide links to online templates, guides, and other resources, and will show you what works and what doesn’t in disaster recovery.  Our speakers are distinguished members of the faculty and staff of the University of West Florida, whose vision, planning, and hard work were crucial to the recovery of UWF after Hurricane Ivan.

This is a series of six seminars, with each installment focusing on a different aspect of disaster recovery and business continuity planning.  Sessions will be held in the American Room at New World Landing every Tuesday night from 6PM to 8PM starting on February 6 and ending on March 20 (no session will be held on February 20, which is Mardi Gras).  Our first session, presented by UWF President Dr. John Cavanaugh, will focus on high-level planning from the CEO’s perspective.

The price for these seminars is $25 per session which includes an excellent New World Landing dinner.  This is also a networking opportunity that will allow guests to form strategic relationships and share resources and ideas for business continuity planning.  Proceeds will go towards ITGulfCoast’s scholarship fund, which is awarded each year to an outstanding UWF or Pensacola Junior College student in Computer Science or Information Technology.  Attendees are encouraged but not obligated to attend all events, but can pick which topics interest them most.  If you are interested in attending one or more seminars, please RSVP to rsvp@itgulfcoast.org and tell us which sessions you would like to attend.

Payment can be made by cash or check (made out to ITGULFCOAST.ORG) at the event. If you RSVP for a dinner and cannot attend, we will invoice you. Please cancel within 2 days of the event if you have already RSVP'd.
